Countdown is ON! 53 Days to go.

It's official - invitations have gone out! For those of you who have never met the super cute and handsome dog on the stamps; please meet Stanley.

Wow. Summer is here. For us in NY it feels like the middle of August. Boy, its hot out. Good news is Vermont is much cooler. We should only need tissues for our tears and not our beady heads and faces.

I hope everyone has made their travel and hotel arrangements by now, if you havent please reference an older post titled, Other Inns, Hotels and B&B's. If anyone has any questions about the area, hotels, etc. please contact me at sarahakreps@gmail.com.

We have a lot in store for the weekend. We are excited that the Brooklyn Vipers will be with us to kick off a memorable weekend. We have a host of activities for Saturday morning and afternoon. If anyone would like to play a round of golf on Saturday morning, please contact either me or Adam to let us know. We have reserved four foursomes on Saturday morning.

Check back for more posts.

Enjoy your summer. See you soon.

Bridesmaid Dresses Part 3

After an exhaustive search, it is finally complete. All of my bridesmaid have dresses! Each gal will be wearing a dress that they love, feel good in, and will hopefully where again. They all found a style unique to them and their personality.

While the search was going on, I had my doubts. Maybe I should have just selected one dress and one color and made life easier. In some ways it was fun, and some ways very tedious. From collecting swatches, snapping pictures on our blackberries, sending numerous links of different dresses from all over the web, finding a dress but then not having it in the right size, not finding the right length, or the right shape, or the right fabric, one shoulder vs. strapless -- Ill admit, the search became a little tiring for all of us. A few weeks ago I dragged Adam to Bloomingdales while I tried on dresses for my bridesmaids. I think he thought I was nuts. He luckily found a nice chair in the Ladies Dress department while I scoured through the dresses. A few of the dresses were decent so I put them on snapped pictures with my camera phone and sent them off to my friends. Although I had good intentions, it was too hard to try on dresses for others. In the end it all worked out. Always does, right?

I am really happy that I stuck to my plan with original dresses for each girl and not put everyone in the same dress. Thank you bridesmaids for putting up with me, and spending a lot of time shopping in stores and online for dresses. Cant wait to see you all together.

Tasting Cakes

Raspberry, Apricot, Hazelnut, Chocolate, Oreo Cookie, Mint, Pistachio, Maple, Dark Chocolate, Dulce be leche, Baileys, Lemon Ginger, Raspberry Seedless, Lavender, Vanilla Butter creams, ganache, filling, and icing – who knew there were so many kinds of cakes! Last night we tasted cakes, many cakes, over 30 different flavors of cakes --- what a mouthful! It was a pretty comical event! Try and imagine: we were sitting side by side on the couch, with Stanley (our dog) at our feet with ten different types of cake. Each cake was numbered with detailed descriptions of the type of cake, icing, filling, butter cream, and ganache!

You may be asking yourself – where did the cakes come from? The cakes were baked in Ludlow, Vermont by Irene Maston and she packed them up and shipped them to us via Fedex! It was a little unnerving when we came home to a Fedex note that read, "could not deliver" and then spent the next 2 hours back and forth to Fedex tracking the box down.

So, here we were with our box of cakes, drooling dog, water glass on the table, multiple plates for the cakes with a pen and paper for note taking. Adam’s job was to unwrap the cakes while I carefully read each description so we knew exactly what we tasted. Forkful after forkful we stopped to discuss how we felt about each flavor, filling, icing, butter cream, and ganache. There were some that we X’d right away, some that were definitely worth taking notes about, and some that deserved multiple tastes.

The process was hysterical, hands down the most comical event in our wedding planning. The cakes were so yummy, and the abundance of flavors a little overwhelming. We did pick our cake, and our filling, and our icing. Looking forward to sharing our wedding cake with you on August 21st! :)
