If you plan to take the Taconic Parkway - make sure you do not speed. I recommend you do not go over 60mph. We have seen way too many drivers get pulled over.

Stay Calm

Over the past few days people are inclined to tell me to Stay Calm -- you are in the home stretch now; its going to get hectic, so stay calm. If you know me -- than you know I am one of the calmest people you will ever meet. I dont know how much more calm I can be... We are getting married in 17 days; whose counting?! We have been planning our wedding for approximately 8 months and for the most part everything is done.

From the beginning the planning of our wedding has been a fun challenge for us. We do things in stride. We make decisions together. We organize our to do lists; probably a little too often. Adam loves updating spreadsheets - so he keeps tabs of our guest list, table assignments, and the budget. AMAZING, right?! I interact with our vendors, finalize timelines, and organize all of the special touches that are planned into our wedding weekend. It's a balancing act - and we have got this down pretty good. There is no stress in our wedding planning - no stress.

We can't wait to be dancing together under the moon in just seventeen days listening to the Blue Vipers of Brooklyn. Memories will be made.

We are going hiking!

On Saturday morning Adam has organized a hike up the Equinox Mountain. The hike will depart from the Equinox Spa at 9:30 AM. Please pack sneakers if you are interested on going on the hike. It will be approximately 3-4 miles and will take roughly 2 hours. The hike will take you on the Deer Knoll trail; we have heard that it is gorgeous. I cant think of a better way to start your morning! Happy hiking.

Semi Formal, What does it mean?

This is a post that I thought would come in handy.

Abbreviated Definition:
Semi-Formal or After Five means that tuxes are not required, nor are long dresses. An evening wedding (after 6 PM) would still dictate dark suits for him, and a cocktail dress for her.

Detailed Definition:
For women, semi-formal attire is somewhat flexible. Women can wear a dress, pant suit or dress suit. Preferred fabrics for semi-formal attire for women include silk, velvet, rayon, cashmere, high quality polyester brocades, or velour. Usually, anything silky goes. Except for cashmere, a wool business suit is not considered semi-formal attire since it is not dressy enough.

Hem lengths in semi-formal attire dresses vary. Dresses can be cocktail dresses, no more than an inch above the knee, or they can extend to the ankle. Dress suits, for example, a silk suit, usually has a hem length slightly above, at or below the knee. Pants suits, again in silk, polyester, or cashmere, tend to be worn at the ankle. One can also wear dressy tops and tuxedo pants made out of appropriate fabrics and still fit into the semi-formal attire group.

Generally semi-formal attire also means dress heels for women, usually in colors coordinating with one’s outfit. However, a dressy flat or strappy sandal with the appropriate outfit is also considered semi-formal attire. Low, comfy flipflops are not dressy enough to be called semi-formal attire.

For men, semi-formal attire means wearing a full suit, with vest optional. A tie, either bow or straight, should be worn, and the shirt should be a simple button down. Suit fabric choices are primarily wool gabardine or cashmere. However, a wool blend will do. Linen or seersucker suits are not formal enough for semi-formal attire. Dress shoes like oxfords are worn. It is not necessary to wear a tuxedo, and one might be considered a bit overdressed for a semi-formal event showing up in a tux.

Hair, Make Up, Manicure, and Pedicure Recommendations

Interested in getting a manicure and pedicure while in Vermont? Would like to have a blow out, or make up done?

I am using a stylist from Salon and Boutique located in Manchester Village for my hair and makeup. The Equinox offers manicures and pedicures but they do not do hair or makeup application. They do have a wonderful spa, pool, and great classes (yoga, pilates).

The Salon and Boutique is down the street from the Equinox - about a 3 minute drive. I would not recommend walking. Its over a mile down the street. Its in an ideal location for outlet shopping prior to your appointment. To make an appointment call (802) 362-1990 or visit their website: http://www.thesalonandboutique.com/

You can also look into the Green Door Day Spa which is down the street from the Equinox as well, however I am not familiar with the salon. http://http://www.greendoordayspa.com

Hope this is helpful.

Countdown is ON! 53 Days to go.

It's official - invitations have gone out! For those of you who have never met the super cute and handsome dog on the stamps; please meet Stanley.

Wow. Summer is here. For us in NY it feels like the middle of August. Boy, its hot out. Good news is Vermont is much cooler. We should only need tissues for our tears and not our beady heads and faces.

I hope everyone has made their travel and hotel arrangements by now, if you havent please reference an older post titled, Other Inns, Hotels and B&B's. If anyone has any questions about the area, hotels, etc. please contact me at sarahakreps@gmail.com.

We have a lot in store for the weekend. We are excited that the Brooklyn Vipers will be with us to kick off a memorable weekend. We have a host of activities for Saturday morning and afternoon. If anyone would like to play a round of golf on Saturday morning, please contact either me or Adam to let us know. We have reserved four foursomes on Saturday morning.

Check back for more posts.

Enjoy your summer. See you soon.
